When we first heard that Universal Pictures was rebooting its classic monster movies into some sort of Avengers-style shared universe, we were under the impression that the 2016 reboot of The Mummy would kick things off. But according to some recent rumors, Universal could be laying the groundwork as soon as next week, with the release of Dracula Untold.
Badass Digest did some poking around and learned that Universal recently did some reshoots on Dracula Untold, ostensibly to tie in the movie to the larger monsterverse (despite that news coming after production had started). Badass Digest’s Devin Faraci shared some more details in a tweet:
The DRACULA UNTOLD ’tie in’ scene is at the very end, Dracula in a market in the modern day.

IGN asked the movie’s director Gary Shore to weigh in; he made it sound like there’s little to no tie-in. At least, not that he’s involved with?
The monster universe thing evolved later on. So the film doesn’t really adhere to those rules. It isn’t really tied into that. I don’t want to give away what happens in the film. It’s optional for them if they want to use it as that launching pad.
